I'm donating a 7-video collection titled, "Vietnam Combat" for the Scholarship Auction at the upcoming reunion. I'll be mailing them out tomorrow. These videos cover the war in a general manner showing all branches of the military. In the second half of the "Jungle Warfare" video the 11th Cav is filmed in detail (about 15 minutes worth of video) from 1966 through January 1969 when the 1st Squadron got their Sheridans. "Vietnam: A Television History." Here's a description of the collection. A six-year project from conception to completion, this 13-hour, thirteen-volume video collection carefully analyzes the costs and consequences of this controversial but intriguing war. From the first episode, "Roots of a War," to the last, "Legacies," it provides a detailed visual and oral account of the war that changed a generation and continues to color American thinking on many military and foreign policy issues. These videos were originally shown on PBS back in 1985. The 11th Cav is well-represented in this collection. In the "Cambodia And Laos" video there is some excellent, close-up footage of K Troop ACAV's coming out of Cambodia in June 1970. In "The End of the Tunnel, 1973-1975" video, the picture on the video case was taken at a fire support base outside of Snoul, Cambodia in May 1970. The M109 howitzer, "Heartless Bastard," was an 11th Cav vehicle. In the last video, "Legacies," there is some good footage of two former Blackhorse troopers at The Wall in Washington, D. C.
