Sponsor and Donation Information
                                                    For
The 11th Armored Cavalry's Homecoming Celebration

The Odessa Chuck wagon Gang, the 11th Armored Cavalry Veterans of Vietnam & Cambodia (11ACVVC), the Blackhorse Association (BHA) the City of Barstow, the Regimental Support Squadron (RSS), the Fort Irwin Commanding General and all the people of Fort Irwin have set up a gala "Welcome Home" party for the soldiers of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment when they return from Iraq.. Brigadier General Robert Cone, Fort Irwin's post commander, has set the dates for the celebration to be March 16th, 17th and 18th.  I believe that Maj. Mike Martel (XO RSS) or Lt Laura Tobias (POC RSS S-1) will be putting out a schedule of all the actives for each day. However, the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang, along with all our volunteers, will be serving everyone with its world famous Texas barbeque at 1400 hours on Saturday March 18, 2006. As you know, all of the 11th ACR troopers and their families will be guest of our sponsors and receive the meal at no cost.

In order to raise the necessary funds to pay for the meals of the troopers & their families, we are soliciting sponsorship funds from companies and individuals. Our "Drover" sponsors will be companies or individuals who make a contribution of $1,000.00, contributions of $5,000.00 will be our "Wrangler" sponsors and those that make contributions of $10,000.00 or more are our "Trail Boss" sponsors. All of these will receive the following acknowledgments:

      1.   A listing in the Odessa American after the event; thanking our sponsors.
  1. Your name and your company name on two large banners that will be displayed at the Fort Irwin feed site
3.   A wall plaque denoting your support of the 11th Cavalry troopers, the 11th
Armored Cavalry Veterans of Vietnam & Cambodia, (11ACVVC) the Blackhorse    Association (BHA) and the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang.
4.   If you elect, we will provide you or your company representative with the
      following:
a.       An invitation for you and your wife to go to Fort Irwin with the Chuck
Wagon Gang, but like the gang members it will be at your own expense. (You will get the chuck wagon discounted rates on travel and rooms).
b.      A one year honorary membership in the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang.
c.       An official chuck wagon gang shirt and apron.
d.      Participate in all chuck wagon actives during the trip.

The final concept of the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang's trip can not be firmed-up until we can get a good count on the number going with us, then we will contact bus companies & hotels to get everything finalized. . However, we think the plan will be: 1) Fly from Odessa to Las Vegas on March 16th, spend that night at the Rivera hotel and perhaps have a no host cocktail party with the 11th ACVVC & BHA. 2) Depart Las Vegas on March 17th and travel by bus to Fort Irwin; hopefully arriving by 1300 hours and have lunch with the Fort Irwin volunteers. The lunch will be provided by the OCWG and prepared by some of the Gang's "Past Bosses". We will then attend the welcome home ceremony/review at 1500 hours and spend some time touring some of the fighting vehicles of the regiment.  At 1800 hours the gang and volunteers will "roll the meat" at the feed site. (You will have to be there to see this secret recipe)   3) Saturday, March 18th   we will spent the day at the cook site preparing and putting on the feed for everyone. 4) Sunday, March 19th we will bus back to Las Vegas and spend the night before flying home the next day.  Of course, all of this could change depending upon the number of rooms and buses we can book.

If you would like to be one of our "Drover", "Wrangler" or "Trail Boss" sponsors or just make a contribution in any amount, you can do so by making your tax deductible checks out to: OCWG 11th Cavalry Homecoming  and send them to Jerry Hensley  %OCWG  P.O. Box 12905 Odessa, Tx 79768.

If you are making, or have already made a donation ($1,000.00 or more) please send me your shirt size (these are long sleeve, so send neck size & sleeve length) and provide me with your travel plans. Also, let me know if you will be traveling with us by bus from Las Vegas to Fort Irwin and if you would like me to get you rooms with us at Las Vegas or Fort Irwin.

If you are just making a donation for the troopers and their families, but would like to participate with the Gang, BHA and the 11thACVVC; please let me know your travel plans.  Note: We would like to have a donation from everyone attending to at least pay for their food. The cost is $8.00 per plate.

For everyone who has made a pledge to help support our Regiment's Troopers; it's time to send in those funds. For all of you who have already sent in monies; we all thank you so very much.

I will be sending out additional information, at a later date, to all of the people who have volunteered to help with the feed or with serving.
