MAJOR GENERAL MICHAEL H. TAYLOR

Commander - 49th Armored Division

Major General Michael H. Taylor assumed command of the 49th Armored Division, Texas Army National Guard, Camp Mabry, Austin, Texas in March 2002.

General Taylor began his military career in 1970 upon graduation from Texas A&M University. He was commissioned as an Armor Officer and served as a Platoon Leader in Vietnam with the 2nd Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. Prior to his current assignment, General Taylor served as Deputy Commander, 71st Troop Command, Texas Army National Guard, in Austin, Texas. From March to October 2000, he served as Assistant Division Commander, 49th Armored Division, Multi-National Division (North) and Task Force Eagle, Stabilization Force 7, Operation Joint Forge in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
